UPDATE: The second officer who was critically wounded during last night’s shooting incident has died. SS Police will provide an update at 1 pm today.
PRIOR: A South Simcoe Police officer has been killed, another seriously wounded, after an incident Tuesday night in Innisfil.
The suspect was later pronounced deceased following an interaction with police.
A news release says police the officers to a disturbance at a home in the area of 25th Sideroad and 9th Line.
Two officers were shot inside the home.
The wounded officers were rushed to a local hospital by emergency run where one of them died.
The second officer was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre where he remains in critical condition.
The Special Investigations Unit is now investigating.
York Regional Police are conducting an investigation into the details surrounding the shooting of the officers.
More details are expected to be released at a news conference later today.
