A new program is coming to Orillia to promote water safety and drowning prevention.
Lifesaving Sport teaches young people drowning prevention skills through high-performance sport and competition.
It’s open to everyone eight years of age and up with tryouts taking place on October first at the Orillia Recreation Centre.
Lifesaving Sport is recognized by the International Olympic Committee and the Commonwealth Games Federation, and competitions are held in Ontario, Canada and internationally.
The city will get support from Hydro One which will cover the costs of equipment and other start up expenses.
