The Province has requested more Federal help to fight Covid-19 at Ontario Long Term Care Homes (LTC).
Community acquired cases are on the downswing thanks to everyone’s efforts at social distancing, but Premier Doug Ford says Ontario is still in the thick of a raging battle against the virus in long term care facilities.
Today the Province requested Federal reinforcements on two fronts – Resources from public health agencies and Canadian Armed Forces personnel, who will be deployed to five high-priority long term care homes (LTC) in Toronto. The Province did not name the homes, just reported that the army will be deployed to where there is the greatest need.
“I will draw on every available resource,” pledged Ford. “I will get support and reinforcements from everywhere possible.”
Ford adds that specialist Swat teams of healthcare professionals will also move in to support over 100 long term care homes who need help.
Ford says supplies too are getting to the front lines within 24 hours of request.
