MPP Rick Byers speaks to the audience at Dundalk's Southgate Eco Park on August 12, 2022 as Premier Doug Ford looks on.
Premier Doug Ford was in southern Grey County on Friday to tout an announcement about a new manufacturing facility.
The provincial government says they’re supporting investment of more than $14.8-million by Greenlid to build a new plant in Dundalk that will bring the company’s production to Ontario.
The Ontario government is providing $500,000 in funding.
Greenlid manufactures one-time use compostable products, such as plates, coffee cups, and lids out of fibre-based materials, according to company CEO Morgan Wyatt.
Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Rick Byers was at the announcement, saying that Greenlid was “An important organization in Grey Bruce and one that is generating economic activity, together with a strong focus on the environment. It’s an exciting enterprise, and one that we will watch grow and prosper.”
The investment will build a 60,000-square-foot facility in Dundalk’s Southgate Eco Park.
Up until this point, Greenlid’s manufacturing is done in China.
By building a facility in Ontario, it would bring the supply chain to Ontario as well.
