Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to two separate traffic complaints yesterday, both of which resulted in impaired driving arrests.
Police were called on August 10, 2022, at 4:15 p.m. to a collision on George Johnston Road, where a vehicle had rear-ended another traveling in the same direction.
The same vehicle minutes earlier had been the subject of a traffic complaint for erratic driving. Officers arrived and upon speaking to the driver, quickly determined he was impaired.
Following further investigation, an 18-year-old from New Lowell was arrested and charged with;
· Operation While Impaired-blood drug concentration
· Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
Later on in the evening, at 11:45 p.m. on August 10, 2022, police responded to another traffic complaint. This time, it was for a vehicle that was observed to be driving erratically on Highway 26. Officers located and stopped this vehicle, again determining that the driver was impaired.
Following further investigation, a 60-year-old male from Midhurst was arrested and charged with;
· Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
· Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
Both accused’s are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on the 6th of September 2022.
