Huronia West OPP have arrested a man and charged him with attempted murder.
Just before midnight on July 31st, police were called to a home in Stayner, where they found a person suffering from serious injuries.
In their preliminary investigation, police found that the victim had been sexually assaulted and then stabbed.
The victim was taken to the local hospital, then airlifted to a trauma centre.
31-year-old Michael Zaakir from Wasaga Beach was arrested Friday evening, and has been charged with:
– Attempted murder
– Aggravated sexual assault
– Uttering threats
– Failure to comply with a release order
– Theft of a motor vehicle
He appeared in court for a bail hearing and has been remanded into custody.
