Two people from the region have been charged after a West Grey Police investigation into trucks with altered vehicle identification numbers (VIN).
Police say they recovered two stolen vehicles with cloned VINs and arrested two people as a result of a probe that commenced on July 7.
A 34-year-old male from Paisley and a 30-year-old female from West Grey have been charged with fraudulent concealment and possession of stolen property over $5,000.
According to police, VIN cloning typically involves a stolen vehicle that has its number removed and replaced with a valid and genuine one from another car that is of similar make and model. Perpetrators then try to register stolen vehicles with altered VINs in another province or country.
West Grey Police say both the accused in this case, who have not been identified, were released for a later court date in Walkerton.
