The businesses of the Collingwood Downtown Business Improvement Area (BIA) celebrated
the 2022 edition of the Collingwood Pride Festival in style. Many businesses decorated windows and storefronts in honour of the first ever in-person event.
The winner of the contest was Remedy Medica, with honourable mentions going to
Lemonwood, Century 21 Millennium Inc, At Home Interiors and Coriander Life and
Style.
There is an interesting story behind the winner’s décor. Rag and Bone in New York
City created the original artwork and were instrumental in lobbying for same sex
marriages. The team at Remedy Medica asked if they could copy their artwork for
the Pride weekend and local artist Shandelle McCurdie re-created it for their
windows.
Judging was undertaken by Julie Card of mycollingwood.ca and Tara Orme
Latreille of MAX97.7 and the winner will receive a media promotional prize
package from mycollingwood.ca and MAX97.7 valued at more than $3,300.
