Work is underway to replace the Teeswater River Bridge in Paisley.
Bruce County says the project for the bridge on Bruce Road 3 started in May and continues to progress.
The new bridge will allow for more river flow clearance and will have a life span of 75 years.
While the project is ongoing, motorists can continue to drive to and through Paisley, as local businesses are open.
The county is advising residents the existing bridge location will be closed from Aug. 2 to Sept. 2023 during construction, however, construction of a temporary bridge is underway.
The temporary bridge will connect Goldie Street and Church Street over the Saugeen River, as well as serve as the connecting in-town detour for motorists and pedestrians in Paisley.
Semi-trucks, tractor trailers, and agricultural equipment are to avoid crossing at the bridge in Paisley during construction. Alternate routes have been established, and signage has been put up to guide these motorists.
The project will also feature work on Queen Street north of the bridge by the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie next year, which will include water mains, sanitary and storm sewers, sidewalk rehabilitation, and road paving.
Warden Janice Jackson says, “the county is collaborating with our municipal partners to provide necessary infrastructure enhancements to support shared industries and our growing economy. This bridge replacement on Bruce Road 3 will provide improved, safety, services, and accessibility for the public long into the future.”
