Owen Sound Police continue to investigate nearly two months after gunshots were reported in the city.
The city’s police chief Craig Ambrose confirms there have not been any arrests related to the incident involving two vehicles on May 26, when police recovered multiple bullet casings in the area of the 900 block of 5th Avenue East.
Police officers were called to the area around 12:30 a.m. early that morning after a witness reported two vehicles travelling northbound on 5th Avenue East that appeared to be moving in tandem. A passenger in the lead vehicle then leaned out of the window and fired multiple shots at the other car.
A parked vehicle was also hit with a stray bullet.
At the time, police described the suspect vehicle as a black sedan and the other as a white vehicle.
Ambrose says the investigation remains active.
He says information has been acquired through evidence at the scene and from the public that has allowed the police department to keep working on it.
Ambrose made a comment suggesting police believe passengers in the suspect vehicle and the one shot at are known to each other.
“It doesn’t appear to a random incident,” Ambrose says.
Owen Sound Police continue to appeal to anyone who may have information about this incident to contact them (519-376-1234) or Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-8477).
