The Town of Saugeen Shores is bringing on a new By-Law Enforcement Officer.
The town says Officer Madison McNeill started her role on May 30 and comes to the town from Owen Sound, where she acted as the Provincial Offences Officer. Prior to this, she worked as a Municipal Law Enforcement for the City of Kitchener, and a Community Justice Coordinator for the John Howard Society.
McNeill is taking over from long-serving officer Ron Cullierier, who is transitioning into semi-retirment after nearly 10 years as a by-law officer, and 30 years in the town’s police service.
McNeill says she was born and raised in Saugeen shores and is eager to give back to her community.
“I am looking forward to developing the by-law enforcement function through increased engagement, educational messaging, and community presence,” says McNeill.
The town says the by-law enforcement officer is responsible for enforcing local by-laws to create a safe and enjoyable community for residents and visitors. The officer also answers questions and concerns surrounding by-laws and other enforcement issues.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau says, “officer McNeill has big shoes to fill, and we are confident she will fulfill her duties with both compassion and integrity.”
