Thirty acres of land along the Poplar Sideroad in Collingwood will remain vacant, in hopes that Queen’s Park will give the go ahead to build a new hospital there.
The property is part of a larger parcel of land where developers are planning a health and wellness village.
Though local officials have been pushing for a brand new General And Marine Hospital on the new site, the province has not made a decision yet.
Last summer, the health minister was in Collingwood to announce $15 million in funding to expand and upgrade the current hospital.
An email from the hospital foundation says 30 acres for a future hospital have been set aside by the developers as a placeholder and are integrated into their Health & Wellness Village proposal.
Designated Land Remains For New G&M
