The Township of Oro-Medonte is inviting artists to submit to participate in a new public art project.
It says ”The Trees of Oro-Medonte” will represent OroMedonte’s culture, history, or the four-seasons of natural beauty and will be on display in the village of Craighurst.
Approximately 10 artists will be selected to transform the metal tree sculptures into public art, which will be unveiled at a kickoff event this summer.
The art will be owned by the Township of Oro-Medonte and used to promote the region including photo/video, highlighting the arts and culture sector in the area. The design must be the artist’s original concept and not infringe on any copyright.
Artist Honorarium: $1,000 for completion of two sides of the tree, $500 for individual side (if you want to only do one side you must work with another artist selected by the committee, for the alternate side to complete the trunk – details to be provided).
The submissions will be juried by an evaluation committee.
All questions in the form must be completed. Due to the size and weight of the sculptures, submissions will be accepted from those artists from within a 30 minute drive from the Township office in Oro-Medonte.
