In celebration of International Museum Day, the Collingwood Museum is hosting an exciting travelling exhibit from the Royal Botanical Gardens, entitled A Place to Grow.
It highlights the history of gardening in a Canadian context, from agricultural crops that shaped Ontario’s economic development to ornamental plants that influenced our country’s social history.
This travelling exhibit will be complemented by an in-house display entitled Going to Seed that will explore Collingwood’s early agriculture, the emergence of civic pride in property beautification, and the present-day popularity of community gardens.
You can check out the special display at the Collingwood Museum until the first week of July.
May is Museum Month and kicked off with a declaration by Acting Mayor Keith Hull on May 1 that will be followed by the illumination of the Town Hall clock and the Collingwood Museum’s iconic tower in purple between May 18 and 25. The declaration may be found here.
Today is International Museum Day! In Honor of this day and the month of May as "Museum Month" the clocktower at Town Hall will be illuminated PURPLE.
