Huron Perth Public Health is warning the sixth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting the highest risk settings.
Health officials say they have seen a steady number of new lab confirmed cases of COVID-19 and is reporting 13 active outbreaks and 11 hospitalizations.
“The rise in outbreaks tells us that community transmission of COVID remains high locally,” says Dr. Miriam Klassen, Medical Officer of Health for Huron-Perth.
“This is putting pressure on our health care system and highest risk settings, not only due to staff absences, but also because of the extra care required for COVID positive patients and residents.”
To prevent the further spread of COVID-19, Huron Perth Public Health recommends you keep up to date on vaccines, stay home when sick, continue to wear face masks, and wash your hands frequently.
