Orillia Transit users will have to wear masks until at least June 11th.
Mayor Steve Clarke says following Provincial masking requirements in high-risk settings like public transit will assist in limiting the spread of COVID-19 during this sixth wave.
“We appreciate the cooperation of our transit riders as these requirements continue,” says the Mayor.
Provincial masking requirements that were set to expire on April 27th have been extended in current settings until at least June 11, 2022, including:
- public transit;
- health care settings (e.g., hospitals, doctors’ offices, clinics that provide health care services, laboratories, specimen collection centres, and home and community care);
- long-term care homes;
- retirement homes; and
- shelters and other congregate care settings that provide care and services to medically and socially vulnerable individuals.
“We are deep into the sixth wave and must remain cautious and responsible,” adds the Mayor. “Vaccination and booster doses remain vital to reducing the spread of COVID-19. If you haven’t gotten the vaccine or your booster, please do so as soon as possible and please continue to follow the basics: self-screen for symptoms, practice good hand hygiene and stay home when you are ill.”
