An incident involving a gun in Wasaga Beach has resulted in high risk takedown and arrest of a 23 year old man.
Huronia West OPP was called about a man with a loaded gun in the area on Sunday morning, when the suspect was located in a vehicle, which fled from officers and ended up in a ditch.
Police say after the suspect refused to obey commands, a taser was used to take him into custody.
A search of the vehicle also resulted in the seizure of a loaded firearm.
As a result of the investigation, the OPP says James HODGKINSON, 23-years-old, of Wiarton, has been charged criminally with the following:
· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Operation while impaired – BAC 80 plus
· Dangerous operation
· Flight from peace officer
· Careless storage of a firearm
· Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
· Carrying concealed weapon
· Firearm – Use while committing offence
· Criminal Harassment
· Failure to Comply with Undertaking
The accused was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
