
The 10th time was the charm.
Nicholas Porco scored twice in the third period to break open a 2-2 game as the Owen Sound Attack held on to beat the London Knights 5-4 in Ontario Hockey League action Friday night at the Budweiser Gardens.
The Attack (32-25-5-3) managed to avoid a season series sweep at the hands of the Knights with the win. London (37-21-5-1) had won the previous nine meetings.
Julian Fantino, Colby Barlow and Ethan Burroughs also scored for the Attack, which never trailed in the game. Cody Morgan scored twice for London, while Luke Evangelista and Antonio Stranges added singles. The Knights lost their fifth straight game.
Nick Chenard made 29 saves in the win, while Owen Flores stopped 22 taking the loss. London outshot Owen Sound 33-27 while going 2 for 5 on the power play; The Attack went 1 for 7.
Owen Sound is now tied with Guelph at 72 points in the battle for fifth in the western conference, as the Storm lost 7-1 to Windsor Friday night. Guelph still holds one game in hand.
Friday’s win over London was the Attack’s final road game of the regular season. They have three games remaining, all at home.
Saturday evening, the Attack host the Kitchener Rangers. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
