A Goderich elementary school currently has the highest number of absences in Huron and Perth counties, according to the province’s COVID-19 absenteeism tracking website.
The province announced in January parents would be notified of a potential COVID-19 outbreak when approximately 30 per cent of staff and students in the school are absent.
In Huron and Perth counties, the school with the highest percentage of absenteeism, as of publication, is Goderich Public School, with 22.2 per cent of staff and students absent.
Goderich P.S. is followed by Exeter Elementary School (17.4%), Stephen Central Public School (17.1%), and St. James School in Seaforth (16.9%).
Absences are not necessarily linked to COVID-19, and could also be tied to medical appointments or religious holidays.
