The Ontario Clean Water Agency’s (OCWA) 2021 Annual Drinking Water System report has confirmed the Town of Saugeen Shore’s water system is safe and positioned for growth.
During a March 28 Committee of the Whole meeting, the town was highlighted in the OCWA’s report.
Each year the OCWA undertakes an evaluation of the town’s two drinking water systems, with the goal of ensuring the water quality throughout the town’s boundaries meets or exceeds provincial regulations and continues to provide safe drinking water.
In addition to the analysis providing an assessment of any invasive substances entering the system, it also provides a thorough review of water quality and capacity.
With the town meeting or exceeding provincial regulations, the water and wastewater systems meet current capacity needs and are in a position, with upgrades already planned, to meet future demand.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau says the town takes the availability of safe drinking water very seriously and values the work the OCWA does in evaluating the local water system and ensuring its safety.
“We are also glad the OCWA is again confirming that our water supply capacity can handle growth and acknowledges that we are future ready,” says Charbonneau.
