The Owen Sound Attack gave up a 3-0 lead against the Sarnia Sting, but found a short-handed goal when they needed it to escape with a victory.
Cedrick Guindon scored short-handed at 9:24 of the third period, putting his team back in front shortly after Sarnia tied things up en route to a 5-3 win for the Attack in Ontario Hockey League action Sunday afternoon at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
Colby Barlow, William Portokalis and Lorenzo Bonaiuto also scored for the Attack, which led 3-0 midway through the second period.
Nolan Burke, Nolan DeGurse and Zack Filak tallied for Sarnia, which tied the game at 7:12 of the third period before conceding the game-winner to Guindon.
The start time of the game was delayed just over an hour to 3:15 p.m., after the Attack bus ran into some travel troubles due to the wintry weather in the region and arrived later than expected at the rink.
Owen Sound (31-24-4-3) swept a home-and-home with Sarnia over the weekend and shored up its position in fifth in the OHL’s western conference at 69 points, four points up on the Guelph Storm (29-23-5-2). Guelph, however, has three games in-hand on Owen Sound.
Next game for the Attack is Friday in Guelph.
