Four more local residents have died after contracting COVID-19.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit says the latest deaths involved a woman between 45-64 years of age, along with another woman and two men over 65 all from Simcoe County.
There have been 11 virus-related deaths in the region so far this month.
The health unit also reported 196 new COVID-19 cases, and one more hospitalization due to the virus in its latest report Wednesday, with a total of 22 people being treated and 6 in the ICU.
There are currently 13 active outbreaks in the region, while t0 date, 745 cases have tested positive for the Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of concern, and an additional 2,259 cases are considered suspect Omicron (awaiting confirmatory testing).
