The COVID-19 outbreak at Collingwood General & Marine Hospital is now over.
It was declared on CGMH’s Surgical Unit on Friday March 4, involving three patients and one staff member.
The three patients were isolated, enhanced cleaning measures were implemented and contact tracing was performed, as well as the testing of all surgical inpatients.
Officials say there were no further positive patient or employee cases confirmed.
“CGMH’s employees and credentialed staff worked diligently to ensure the COVID-19 outbreak on the surgical unit was controlled, and I am beyond proud of the work that was performed over the past 10 days,” says Lauren Tindall, VP Patient Experience. “The health and safety of our patients, employees, credentialed staff and the community continues to remain our top priority.”
The Surgical unit is now reopened for essential visitors, as part of phase 2a of the Designated Visitor Policy.
CGMH is tremendously appreciative of all employees and credentialed staff for their dedication and continued efforts during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all while they continue to provide outstanding care to CGMH patients and the South Georgian Bay community.
