The Meaford Knights need a win Friday night to keep their season alive.
Jordan Rochon broke a 1-1 deadlock early in the third period as the Ville-Marie Pirates knocked off the Knights 2-1 in Game 1 of the Greater Metro Junior Hockey League quarterfinal at the Meaford & St. Vincent Community Centre Wednesday night.
Jordan Rivere also scored for Ville-Marie. Jordan Degouw had the lone goal for Meaford, tying the game 1-1 just before the five-minute mark of the second period.
Geremy Giasson made 33 saves in the win. Dan Sultanov stopped 34, taking the loss.
Ville-Marie outshot Meaford 36-34.
The Pirates now lead the best-of-three 1-0. Game 2 is set to go Friday night at 8:30 p.m., in Ville-Marie.
