A Seaforth company has become the latest in the region to become a certified living wage employer.
The Seaforth Cooperative Children’s Centre was certified by the United Way of Perth-Huron as paying $17.55 to staff.
Based on a 35-hour work week, the Perth-Huron living wage takes into account the living expenses of a weighted average of family types including a family of four, a single mother supporting a seven-year-old child, and a single adult, once government transfers and deductions are factored in.
The last time the living wage was calculated for Huron and Perth counties was 2019.
The County of Huron was certified as a living wage employer in 2019, along with Point Farms Market & Miniature Golf, north of Goderich.
