Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) has provided families with an Inclement Weather Day Procedure update.
The school board reports that parents/guardians were notified in the fall of 2020 and 2021 that the school board would operate under a temporary interim inclement weather procedure in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Under the interim procedure, on days when school transportation was canceled, schools were closed to in-person attendance. This procedure supported student and staff safety at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, while allowing for the continuation of learning for students through online, asynchronous, teacher-supported instruction.
With the provincial government planning to ease COVID-19 restrictions in the coming weeks, TLDSB will return to its regular inclement weather procedures effective immediately.
For the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year on days where school transportation is canceled due to inclement weather, schools within the affected region(s) of the Board will remain open.
Parents/guardians will be responsible for the transportation of their students who choose to attend school on inclement weather days. Drop-off and pick-up must occur in alignment with the regular school day start and end times. Students who remain at home on inclement weather days can access existing information on their online classroom, however, there will no longer be new materials assigned or online meetings scheduled with teachers on inclement weather days.
In rare circumstances, where extreme weather or other facility situations require a school or multiple schools to be closed, the TLDSB community will be notified as soon as possible via the usual communication channels.
