Minesing United Church is closing.
The church made the announcement on Facebook, writing:
Today we share the very sad news that Minesing United Church will be closing. For over 150 years we have been a hub of fellowship, community life, and most of all worship in Minesing and the surrounding area.
The Leadership Team and the Trustees made the recommendation to close the congregation after considering the financial and volunteer resources of the church.
Before we made the decision everyone was given an opportunity to speak from their hearts about how they were feeling. From the newest members to people who have been in the church their whole lives people spoke about feeling welcomed and loved.
The vote to close was virtually unanimous.
And so it is with heavy hearts we share this news today. We will spend the next few weeks celebrating the ministry and history of the church. Our closing service will be April 17, 2022, Easter. This is a sign for us that even in death God brings resurrection. We do not know the shape of what will come. We trust in God that it will be good.
