Meaford’s CAO Rob Armstrong is taking on the role as Chief Executive Officer for the Meaford Public Library (MPL).
The town says during a meeting on Jan. 19, the library board approved the appointment of Armstrong to the position through an agreement reached with council.
The MPL says the recent vacancy of the CEO position, created an opportunity for the library board to look at the organizational structure of the library in a way which would offer the same services without any additional costs for service delivery.
Chair of the MPL Library Board Mike Poetker says, “the library board positively views this as a strategic move that will allow the enhancement of services at the library and to strengthen the alliance with the municipality.”
The agreement reached for Armstrong’s new position distinguishes his roles as CEO and CAO and the reporting to the library board to comply with the Libraries Act.
“I beleive that this new arrangement will benefit the municipality as a whole. This would not be possible without the great staff who work at the library and the exceptional services that they provide that makes our library one of the cornerstones contributing to the strong cultural presence in our community,” says Armstrong.
