The Progressive Conservative MPP for Huron-Bruce says Ontarians will likely to want to continue testing for COVID-19, even after provincial restrictions ease.
Lisa Thompson’s comments come days after the province announced 40 million COVID-19 rapid antigen tests would be handed out for free at 2,300 grocers and pharmacies across Ontario over an eight week period.
“If people are out and about in the community, they want to be confident they are safe,” Thompson tells Country 104.9 News.
“I think that we’ll continue to see people choosing to wear masks, and I think you’ll see people choosing to test.”
When asked whether Ontario will soon follow Alberta in ending its vaccine passport system, Thompson says the Doug Ford government is sticking to its plans.
“We’re starting to hear signals the path we’re on… it’s been working,” Thompson says.
“I can tell you, Dr. Moore — our Chief Medical Officer of Health — is watching very closely our hospital numbers, ICU, etcetera. We wait to hear from him.”
