A fundraising walk is hoping to raise $94 thousand to combat homelessness in the Town of Goderich.
The United Way of Perth-Huron is hosting the third annual Coldest Night of the Year walk in Goderich on February 26th.
Manager Community Development, Lori Shatto, says supporters can take part in the outdoor event on the scheduled date, or take part virtually any time in February.
“The whole concept is to bring awareness to homelessness,” Shatto tells Country 104.9 News.
Last year, Shatto says participants in the Coldest Night of the Year were able to raise a record amount of funds.
“I know that we are going to surpass that goal, because last year we raised over $92 thousand,” Shatto says.
The Coldest Night of the Year supports programs such as the Huron supportive housing worker, shelter for women, children and youth and temporary emergency shelter during the cold months.
