Erie Erased ?
The Owen Sound Attack are ” scheduled ” to play at Erie Wednesday Feb 9th at 11 am & Thursday Feb 10th at 6 pm.
The Attack haven’t totally committed to going to Erie to play those games.
Owen Sound has 24 players, 4 of whom are out with injuries likely for the remainder of this month…or longer
Of the 20 remaining players, 3 are Europeans.
In the case of a positive COVID test for any player or staff member while in the States, the Canadian contingent would be allowed back into Canada from the US to quarantine, BUT the 3 Europeans would be forced to remain in the USA and quarantine there for a lengthy period of time ( & expense )
Owen Sound had/has NO plans to take their 3 Europeans ( Chibrikov, Petrovsky & Machacek ) to Erie which means their roster would be at league minimum of 17 players.
One injury or one suspension to any Attack player would put Owen Sound below the league mandated minimum for the number of players required to ice a team.
Various staff members connected to the Attack cited the potential of Owen Sound going to Erie next week as ” doubtful “, ” unlikely ” and in one case yesterday estimated to have a 20 % possibility
Attack General Manager Dale DeGray declined to comment on the situation.
