
Samuel Miedema and Isaak Wiebe’s (Listowel District SS) cardboard hovercraft which placed first in the Western region.
A number of Huron County students have advanced in the provincial “Junk Drawer Races” competition.
The races are grade-based, and include a Gravity Powered Robot Walker Race, Cardboard Car Race, Paper Glider Competition, Hydraulic Crane Challenge as well as a Cardboard Hovercraft Race.
Grade 3 students Max, Riley, Kyle, and Reese at Howick Central Public School created a gravity-powered robot walker, placing 2nd in the contest’s Western region.
Grade 4 students at Huron Centennial Public School and Clinton Public School were successful in advancing to the provincial round in the Cardboard Car Race during their science class.
The teams who have advanced to the championship round will be able to tweak their existing project or create an entirely new project.
Championship round winners will be announced March 23, 2022.
