The vast majority of those hospitalized for COVID-19 in Huron and Perth counties continue to be unvaccinated.
In the latest report from Huron Perth Public Health, 71 per cent of those treated in hospital for COVID-19 since April 1, 2021 were not vaccinated.
“The 20 per cent of the population that is not fully vaccinated are over represented when it comes to hospitalizations, ICU admissions, and deaths,” the report says.
21 per cent of hospitalizations were reported to be breakthrough cases, while partially vaccinated hospitalizations those not yet protected by vaccination each made up 4 per cent, respectively.
Meantime, there are currently four active outbreaks at long-term care homes in Huron-Perth, five active retirement home outbreaks, and five outbreaks at congregate living spaces.
