No criminal charges will be laid in connection with an interaction between a youth and an OPP officer this past Spring at the Gravenhurst Skate Park.
A video caught the April 18th interaction which occurred at the park while it was closed under a Provincial stay-at-home order.
Officers attended that day to speak with several youths who were at the park.
The video (below) shows the youth in question fall to the ground after the officer appears to either pull his scooter away or push it forward.

Peel Region Police Services were picked to investigate the incident by the OPP Commissioner and have since determined no criminal charges are warranted. The officer in question has returned to active duty.
However, Central Region OPP Media Spokesperson Cst. Gosia Puzio says the OPP’s Professional Standards Unit is currently reviewing the Peel investigation’s findings to determine if charges are warranted under the Police Services Act which sets out standards and expected behaviors for police officers.
Puzio says Peel Region did provide some recommendations in their investigation – it’s these that are part of the current review by the OPP’s Professional Standards Unit.
