Owen Sound Police say a Mercedes sport utility vehicle stolen from a driveway in Chatsworth yesterday morning has been recovered.
The theft of a 2011 Mercedes R 35 SUV was reported to Grey Bruce OPP around 11:30 a.m. Monday and other police services in the area were notified.
Owen Sound Police say officers conducting a traffic enforcement initiative pulled the stolen vehicle over for failing to stop at a stop sign at 9th Street West and 5th Avenue West around 5:30 p.m. yesterday evening.
City Police say the 38-year-old driver of no fixed address was arrested and charged with numerous criminal offences, including theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, driving while prohibited and failure to comply with a probation order.
Police say the accused was also wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Tuesday.
The undamaged Mercedes SUV was returned to its owner.
