Doctor’s notes will no longer be accepted as proof of a medical exemption from COVID-19 vaccination as of today.
Settings that require proof-of-vaccination will no longer accept written medical exemptions and that includes indoor dining, theatres, gyms, casinos and other businesses.
They are currently closed due to new restrictions, but when they do reopen (currently scheduled for January 26th), older versions of vaccine certificates without a QR code won’t be permitted.
The codes can be downloaded online or those with an eligible medical exemption can ask their doctor or a registered nurse to submit the exemption for review in order to receive a QR code.
Currently, vaccine passports are only required for those aged 12 and older.

Ontario is taking action to further encourage vaccination and help limit the spread of #COVID19 and the Omicron variant. These measures will help reduce the risk of transmission during the winter months and protect Ontario’s hospital capacity. https://t.co/dnGvYhlNp2 pic.twitter.com/q2LtTOwf6j
