An 18 year old has been arrested by Barrie Police following an online child exploitation investigation.
On Wednesday, December 22nd, the Barrie Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit arrested the man after a lengthy social media (Instagram/Discord) investigation for the criminal offenses of Personation, Luring a Child, and Making Sexually Explicit Material Available to a Child.
Police say the accused used Instagram to create a fake account and reached out to several victims under the age of 18, exploited them into participating in explicit chats, and requested explicit images.
A computer device was also seized for forensic analysis. The accused was released and given a future court date.
