Don’t cancel your holiday plans due to the spread of Omicron.
Ontario’s top doctor says he is making recommendations to the Ford government on potential health measures to battle the threat of the quickly spreading COVID-19 variant and more details could be released as early as today.
Dr. Kieran Moore hinted that capacity limits for gatherings may be part of the plan over the holidays.
Moore said a single case of Omicron is infecting 4 to 8 times more people than the Delta variant.
Moore says he is most concerned about the province’s most vulnerable citizens, who he recommends to avoid large gatherings, and limit social contacts.
He adds the COVID-19 vaccine remains the single best protection against COVID-19 and variants.
Premier Doug Ford is meeting with his cabinet this morning to discuss Ontario’s response to the rapid growth of Omicron cases and review Moore’s recommendations.
Then at 2p.m. Ford will be joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Sylvia Jones, Ontario Solicitor General, and Dr. Kieran Moore, Chief Medical Officer of Health, to provide an update on Ontario’s COVID-19 vaccine booster strategy.

Have at least six months passed since you received two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine or one dose of the Janssen vaccine? If so, you can now receive a booster dose of the #COVID19 vaccine. pic.twitter.com/YYVJmzKoOC
