COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test
COVID-19 rapid antigen tests will be sent home with Huron and Perth county students before the end of the week.
The move by the province was prompted by Ontario’s COVID-19 Science Advisory Table, which recommended elementary students be tested with the screening kits once a week.
The Avon Maitland District School Board reminds parents the rapid antigen testing is voluntary, and not required during the two week Christmas break.
Instructions for use will be included with the tests.
Since the beginning of December, seventeen cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at schools in Huron and Perth counties, both public and Catholic.
Health officials say the most effective protection against the novel coronavirus is vaccination.
