Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the victims of a mass shooting in Nova Scotia.
At least 17 people were killed yesterday, including RCMP officer Heidi Stevenson.
The gunman was later shot dead by police.
He has been identified as a 51-year-old man, but his motive for the shooting remains unknown.
Trudeau said, “Such a tragedy should have never occurred. Violence of any kind has no place in Canada. We stand with you and we grieve with you. And you can count on our government’s full support during these incredibly painful times.”
The PM says a virtual vigil will be held on Facebook at 7 pm on Friday.
