With vaccine eligibility now extended to include children aged 5 to 11, the Grey Bruce Health Unit says it will host vaccine clinics arenas and community centres, and schools during non-school hours on a regular basis.
It says some of these clinics will be designed for people aged 5-11.
Parents and guardians can find these clinics on the Grey Bruce Health Unit’s vaccine schedule.
Appointments are required for this age group.
The Health Unit says NOT to call Public Health to book an appointment. Appointments can be booked on the COVID-19 Vaccination Portal or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre at 1-833-943-3900.
On November 19th, the National Advisory Committee on Immunization announced recommendations for the administration of the pediatric Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to those aged 5-11. As a result, Ontario is expanding eligibility for the pediatric Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to those aged 5-11 years old (turning five before to the end of 2021).
The health unit says for those 5-11, COVID-19 vaccines should be booked at least 14 days before or after other vaccines. Second doses for this age group must be at least eight weeks after the first dose. Second dose appointments are not automatically booked when booking your first dose.
Public Health says if local clinics are not viewable, they will be added in the coming days.
Individuals 12 and older still requiring first or second doses, do not need an appointment.
The health unit says, in addition, participating primary care providers and pharmacies may offer the COVID-19 vaccine for children and youth.
