Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “,….. proudly sponsored by Pete’s Auto Body.
Pete’s Auto Body; because we care about our community….
Do you remember the idle days we spent doing precious little during the pandemic ?
Those days seem like a distant memory based on the activities on the go these days, especially tomorrow.
On the high school front, the OFSAA Girls Basketball Championships will commence at Smithville, Niagara Falls & at St Catharines
The OFSAA Boys’ Volleyball Championships begin tomorrow at Caledon, North Bay & at Kingston.
In hockey, the Knights of Meaford will host the South Muskoka Shield tomorrow night.
The Greater Metro Junior Hockey League game will be ” 90s Night ” with proceeds generated directed to the Canadian Mental Health Association
Meanwhile, the Owen Sound Attack will be in Barrie tomorrow night for their first of 6 crossover matches with the Colts which might go a long way in determining where and how Owen Sound finishes this season.
Before the Attack depart for Barrie tomorrow, a handful of players and team reps will be at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre for a News Conference to officially launch Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada.
Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada is Saturday January 29th with the CBC using various venues and locations in Owen Sound as their broadcast headquarters.
Leading up to Hockey Day will be 3 full days of activities and today Ron MacLean and others will unveil the details of the various games, banquets, concerts, socials and related events from January 26th through January 29th.
It’s an ambitious festival that will showcase the city of Owen Sound to the viewing public of Canada.
In fact, if you look closely today you’ll see Scotiabank, Sportsnet and city officials doing a variety of site inspections preparing for the official launch of Scotiabank Hockey Day details tomorrow.
That’s a BIG Thursday…….plus the radio ratings are also due tomorrow.
For Pete’s Auto Body, I’m Fred Wallace.
