Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “,….. proudly sponsored by Pete’s Auto Body.

It seems like every year we wait, and wait for special occasions, like Christmas.
For Canadian Soccer fans, the wait has been extended long after Christmas, in fact to January 27th when Canada travels to Honduras in World Cup Soccer Qualifying.
The Canadian side has put together a remarkable run in the Concacaf round robin, going undefeated in 8 games with 4 wins and 4 ties.
That record includes a tie with the Americans and a win and a tie against Mexico, the 2 perceived powerhouses in the Group.
After nipping Mexico 2-1 in nippy Edmonton last week, Canada sits in 1st place in the standings by 1 point over the United States and 2 up on the Mexicans and Panama
Looking ahead, waaay ahead, Canada has 6 games remaining as they shoot for their first World Cup Soccer berth in almost 40 years.
Four of the 6 are on the road starting with the match at Honduras
Three days after that game in Honduras, Canada will have a massive game on home soil against the United States
And to conclude the final half dozen games, Canada will be at Panama on March 30th.
Already I’m anticipating the sequence of games in 2022 for Soccer Canada. I can only imagine how anxious the long time and deeply committed Canadian Soccer fans are feeling these days.
For Pete’s Auto Body, I’m Fred Wallace.
