Get ready to be startled by an emergency alarm today—The National Public Alerting System is doing its bi-annual test.
It sends emergency alerts through televisions, radios and wireless devices in the event of life-threatening situations, like an AMBER Alert, a tornado, or wildfire.
A national test of the system is planned for 12:55 p.m.
However, the message will indicate that it is a test and does not require action from the public.
Tests of the system are conducted twice a year, during Emergency Preparedness Week in May and the third week of November.
⚠️ We're running a routine test on November 17 ⚠️
