Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “,….. proudly sponsored by Pete’s Auto Body.

The rubber hits the road to a certain extent tonight & tomorrow for the Knights of Meaford in the Greater Metro Junior Hockey League.
Tonight, the Knights will be in Bradford to meet the Bulls.
Those same two teams will meet again tomorrow night at the Castle in Meaford.
The Bulls are 8 & 5 on the season and contending for a Top 4 spot in the North Division.
The Knights are 4 points back of Bradford and have played 3 less games than the Bulls so the opportunity to make a solid move in the standings is there.
One could argue that if the Knights were more successful in shootouts they’d have a few more points having dropped a pair of shootouts against the South Muskoka Shield- the most recent Saturday night in Gravenhurst.
Meaford has points in their last 3 outings and have been bolstered in goal by the arrival of Dan Sultanov
The Russian was steady in the Knights win over Bancroft last Thursday at Meaford giving up just 1 goal against.
In the loss on Saturday, Sultanov was named the 2nd star after making 38 saves in a shootout loss to the Shield.
But here’s the challenge for the Knights of Meaford, 10 games into their season, or at the quarter pole of the regular season; they’ve only played 2 games against the Top 4 teams in the North Division to this point losing to both the Rattlers and the Ville Marie Pirates on home ice at Meaford.
If the Knights of Meaford are to be a Top 4 team this year, they’ll need to beat some of the contenders beginning with the Bulls tonight in Bradford and tomorrow night at the Meaford & St Vincent Community Centre.
For Pete’s Auto Body, I’m Fred Wallace.
