Premier Doug Ford was in Dundalk Monday to break ground on the planned Dundalk Medical clinic on Grey Street North.
It will be operated by the South East Grey Community Health Centre.
Ford, Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker, Southgate Mayor John Woodbury and township councillors gathered Monday to put shovels into the ground.
The event featured the announcement of a $275,000 planning grant for the project. The plan for the clinic itself will still need final approval from the provincial government.
The clinic would provide primary care services and other health programs as well as community programs.
It will serve residents of Southgate, West Grey, Grey Highlands and Chatsworth.
The South East Grey Community Health Centre is a ten-year-old non-profit organization that provides primary care services and health programs. Its website says it has physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, a social worker, a registered dietitian, physiotherapist, chiropodist, health promoter, and community developer.
In recent years, the clinic and health centre has offered services out of the former Erskine Presbyterian Church.
