The curling community in our region has been very busy, and will remain very busy and will ultimately build to an exciting climax in 2022.
The Port Elgin Curling Club was the site for the annual SuperSpiel over the weekend
After an absence due to the pandemic, the curlers came back, 16 teams in total, to Port Elgin and Superspiel which has been conducted for decades at the Curling Club.
In the Championship Final Team Ferris from Grimsby defeated Team Kean of Ingersoll 7-2 to take SuperSpiel.
The winning team from Grimsby was comprised of skip Pat Ferris along with Ian Dickie, Conner Duhaime and Zack Shortleff
Is that victory foreshadowing for the Port Elgin Chrysler ’22 Ontario Tankard Presented by Bruce Power ?
The Ontario Men’s Curling Championship is set for February 9th-13th and it will be interesting to see if Ferris & Kean are in the field of teams at the Tankard.
Finally, between Superspiel and the Port Elgin Chrysler ’22 Ontario Tankard Presented by Bruce Power there’s the BrokerLink Grey Bruce Major Curling League.
For this season, there’s 7 teams including the defending champions skipped by Mike Hamer of Port Elgin.
The 7 rinks will compete every Wednesday night up to Christmas in the opening draw and then Draw 2 will commence on January 5th and run through the playoff round.
