Redeveloping Collingwood’s Johnston Trust apartments, using town owned land for housing , and hiring a planning specialist.
These are just a few of the more than 50 recommendations presented to town council by Collingwood’s Affordable Housing Task Force.
Council is now mulling over the suggestions and has asked staff to report back within three months on some of the recommendations.
The task force says there are growing concerns about homelessness, alarming wait lists for rental units both affordable and market based, and soaring costs for home ownership.
