Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has made good on his promise to ensure all Federally regulated employees are vaccinated.
Federal public servants in core public administration must now be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by October 29th.
Those who aren’t or who don’t disclose their vaccination status will be placed on administrative leave without pay by November 15th.
Crown Corporations or agencies must also develop policies mirroring those that affect federally regulated employees.
Today, Trudeau also said that by end of October anyone traveling on a plane or train should also be vaccinated.
“There will be a short period where people who are in the process of getting vaccinated, can show a negative COVID-19 test, but by the end of November if you are 12 or older and want to fly or take the train, you’ll have to be fully vaccinated, as will staff,” he said. “Testing will no longer be an option before boarding.”
Chrystia Freeland, the country’s Deputy PM adds that Canada must use the vaccines as a tool to keep the economy open and to keep healthcare systems from being overwhelmed.
