A consultants study says there is a need for an arts centre in Collingwood.
The town has received a final report from Nordicity Group, which recommends the town start planning for one of two options.
The first would be a 400 to 600 seat facility for use primarily by local groups and organizations.
It would cost between $16 million and $32 million to build.
The second option would be an 800-seat venue. It would cost more, but would also attract high profile performers because it could generate higher ticket revenues. It would also serve the town’s needs well into the future.
Council members are expected to instruct staff to start working on funding options and come back with a report sometime next year.
